SSD manufacturers and their components are literally swamped with orders for solid state drives.
The need to prepare a second ultrabook wave, expected in the second half this year, has already caused such excitement among SSD players , a Lite-On IT, LSI (SandForce), Marvell, Phison Electronics and SanDisk. The first and last are remarkable mass production of SSD, while the three middle - a controllers developer . Note, the Taiwanese company Phison Electronics is a major developer of controllers for flash cards and USB-drives,controllers. We should also note that simply increasing the mass production of solid-state drives by itself can lead to cheaper SSD.
Acer in the second wave will use primarily SSD in ultrabook with controllers from Lite-On SandForce (LSI) and Phison company. As a backup SSD vendors, Acer is considering Micron Technology and Toshiba.
Asustek Computer company would prefer SSD SanDisk, leaving a reserve storage for Adata Technology company. This diversification allows to reduce the risks of short supply.
Lenovo in the latest ultrabook models IdeaPad U310 and U410 SSD uses a Chinese company Ramaxel Technology . Ramaxel SSDs use SandForce controllers. In addition, Lenovo new notebooks - ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 - are based on SanDisk SSD.
