Speaking to investors and analysts, OCZ Technology management spoke about plans to develop a controllers series, Barefoot, which are developed by people from the South Korean company Indilinx, bought some time ago by OCZ.
The third generation of Barefoot controller is already available, produced by TSMC company , which offers the first samples of OCZ chips in August or September. Barefoot is based on three 32-bit processor Aragon 400 MHz, which will be released on 65 nm technology. This processor supports a specific set of commands for SSD, which can be executed in one cycle. This significantly raises the performance of storage devices based on Barefoot controller 3, as compared to its predecessors and competitors.
Right now the competition between SSDs manufacturers deployed in the use of more advanced and more efficient memory controller.
