Apparently, in the third quarter this year, Apple will release the second generation tablet computer iPad mini, and therefore the company has reduced shipments of these devices in the second quarter to 12.10 million units, a monthly reduction can reach 20%.
Apple is also under pressure from the seven-inch tablet manufacturers, often practicing aggressive pricing.
Meanwhile, Apple is looking for contractors to produce parts for the new iPad mini. According to Digitimes, AU Optronics company, the supplier of LCD panels for the tablet yet contemporary, is unlikely to take up the production of displays for a successor. Apple requires LCD panel Retina class with an active layer of indium, gallium, and zinc (IGZO), while AU Optronics is not ready for mass production of these screens with a diagonal of 7.9 inches. Thus, Apple distributes orders between LG and Sharp.
Indium, gallium, and zinc is a replacement for the manufacture of amorphous silicon active layer of the liquid crystal panel, which allows energy efficiency. Also, the source added that the new iPad mini will reduce the number of LEDs in the backlight.
