Google is known for its project Glass - a wearable computer in the form of glasses with a camera and projection screen. Google Maps and Google Street View forever changed our perception of geographical information systems and services. Internet giant is trying to solve other problems facing humanity. For example, to cover up to two-thirds of the world's population access Google calculates using the concept of Project Loon .
The idea is not new, but for its practical realization Google already has undertaken in New Zealand. The company is about to launch into the stratosphere at an altitude of about 20 km from the Earth's surface, a plurality of balloons with stand-alone base stations can transmit information at speeds inherent in 3G networks. Balls can communicate with both terrestrial subscriber and to each other.
The main challenge now is to develop a management balloons, as the movement of air flow in the stratosphere will continue to move them aside. It is assumed that Google will teach balls substituted for each other and maneuver with little power. To supply power equipment will be used solar panels. At an altitude of 20 kilometers an array of balloons will not interfere with the aircraft that typically fly at altitudes up to 10 km.
The development should allow Google to provide access to a worldwide network of remote areas of the world where terrestrial communications are scarce. Basically, Project Loon has become more affordable alternative to satellite communications. Related Products :
