At the end of the working week NVIDIA should release the GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970. In particular, the Monday morning the resource decided to diversify the images of the standard version GeForce GTX 980, promising to consider in detail the characteristics of this graphics solution in a separate article.
The cooling system of the standard version GeForce GTX 980, according to the source, has a good supply of strength in terms of overclock: it is designed for allocating 250 W of thermal energy, whereas in the nominal mode, the card allocates no more than 180 watts of thermal energy.
On the reverse side of the PCB is located reinforcing plate, which may act as a heat sink. However, one GeForce GTX 980 with 4 GB of memory GDDR5 has all the chips on the front side of the card, so that the plate should cool the other elements. Part of the plate near the power connector can be removed.
The power system reference GeForce GTX 980 compared to the GeForce GTX 780 Ti has reduced the number of phases from six to five, but its design inspires hope for a good overclocking potential. In the basic version the video card is content with two 6-pin power connectors, but one of them can be replaced with an 8-pin, and nearby there is a place for one more 8-pin connector. Overall, the video card can be fitted with power connectors in the configuration "6 + 8 + 8" contacts.
Curiously, there are five connectors for monitors: three DisplayPort, one HDMI and one DVI.
Website WCCFTech simultaneously publishes tables of the characteristics of the GeForce GTX 970 (not to be confused with the GeForce GTX 980), which are derived from some official document:
You can learn, for example, that the GeForce GTX 970 is equipped with 1664 cores CUDA, a 256-bit bus and 4 GB of memory type GDDR5, operates at frequencies 1140/1279/7000 MHz and power consumption is satisfied with no more than 148 watts. Supports DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.4. Related Products :
