Cooperation with Micron and the presence of its own development in the field of lithography allows Intel company to regularly produce actual models of solid-state drives and affect the average prices level in the segment. However, the largest manufacturer of solid state drives is still the South Korean company Samsung Electronics, which also uses own memory.
Aggressive Intel pricing , according to interviews with site DigiTimes industry sources, is designed to close the gap with Samsung. In terms of revenue the Korean giant, now controls 30% of the market SSD, while the share of Intel and SanDisk accounted for less than 20% of the market. However, the current activity of Intel allows to hope that in the second half of the year the company will reduce the gap with Samsung.
By the way, Intel is already superior to Samsung in terms of revenue from the SSD, implemented in the corporate market segment . At the same time the rate of return for this category of Intel products are not affected by the price war. Solid state drives are used in brand performance PCs, workstations, data centers and other server solutions.
