Non-volatile memory such as NOR has long yielded to the flash memory such as NAND. NOR-type memory is significantly faster type NAND, but it has much less recording density. In some cases, however, NOR-Flash is still in demand as a faster and with greater resiliency - is industrial electronics, aerospace, and in a number of appliances that do not require high-capacity memory.
Recently Micron company introduced a new , as it claims, type of memory NOR-flash with an improved interface. According to the manufacturer, the memory is much faster than normal XTRMFlash NOR-flash with a serial interface and is also faster NOR-flash with a parallel interface, but draws only 11 active lines instead of a maximum of 40 (comparison of parallel and serial NOR cm. In the picture above).
Operation random access memory Micron XTRMFlash executed in 83 ns. Between two consecutive bytes read is just 2.5 ns. Settled with the reading speed up to 400 MB / s and write speed of an established - 300 MB / s.
Samples of Micron XTRMFlash come in the form of chips with capacities from 128 Mbps to 2 Gbps. Micron hopes that the new interface will become an open standard and gain popularity. Related Products :
