Unofficial sources have warned that in case of GPU GP100 Pascal generation NVIDIA company prefers first to skim the cream from the computing accelerators market, but because the product Tesla family based on this processor will be available in April of this year, and its gaming counterpart will be closer to end of this year or early next.
To the middle of the year is calculated to assure the installation of a supercomputer Cobalt, which will have a capacity of 1.4 petaflops computing, exceeding three times on speed and efficiency available in the CCRT supercomputer. To create Cobalt will use 2304 Xeon Broadwell processor generation with the total number of core 32,256 units, clocked at 2.4 GHz. Acceleration calculations is made of 18 hybrid units based on NVIDIA Pascal GPUs generation. To communicate supercomputer will use InfiniBand EDR interface with a bandwidth of 100 GB / s. The disk system capacity of 2.5 petabytes allow to transmit information at speeds of up to 60 GB / s.
Customers have suggested that the scope of this supercomputer will be enough to meet the needs of customers of these research centers over the next four to five years.
