The Wall Street Journal, citing its own anonymous sources, reported that Intel company has been developing a wearable augmented reality device based on RealSense chamber. The latter is equipped with an infrared depth sensor, which allows to shoot scenes in three dimensions.
According to sources, Intel already has a prototype augmented reality device. Meanwhile, the output of its own on the market giant is not going to, preparation and sale of the end products should take Intel partners. It is interesting that Intel has acquired at least five companies working on augmented reality technology, and investment in this area is already estimated in the sum of $ 300-500 million.
Stagnation in the market of personal computers makes Intel engaged in the development of new promising markets. The giant is actively demonstrating its solutions for handheld devices, mobile electronics and virtual reality.
