Seagate has announced a solid state drive into PCI Express version, which is claimed to be the fastest device of its kind in the industry. SSD uses 16 lines PCI Express interface, which allows to develop the data transfer rate of up to 10 GB / s.
The drive supports the NVMe specification and the Open Compute Project. Seagate orients decision primarily on the use of heavy-data processing systems, cloud storage and web applications. Also, these SSD can serve as a cache for an array of hard drives in hybrid storage configurations.
Separately, Seagate is going to release a model with only 8 PCI Express lines and operating at speeds up to 6.7 GB / s.
