New report research firm Strategy Analytics shows that India is still dominated by Android-smartphone, while the iPhone share is shrinking. Total in India in the second quarter 2016 were sold 30.7 million smartphones, which is 19% more than the same period last year, when 25.8 million smartphones were shipped.
According to Strategy Analytics, in the last quarter, Android's share in the Indian smartphone market was 97.1%. At the end of the reporting period in India it has sold 29.8 million smartphones running on the Android operating system, against 23.2 million in the second quarter of 2015.
As for the iPhone, then their deliveries for the year fell by 35% to 0.8 million, and the share has decreased by almost half - from 4.5% in 2015 to 2.4% in the second quarter of 2016. If Apple wants to increase its share of the mobile market in India in the future, it is necessary to lower the price to attract more mobile operators can subsidize and increase its presence in local retail stores.
The share of smartphones running other operating systems, including Windows Phone and Tizen OS, in the second quarter accounted for only 0.5% of the total supply, whereas a year ago they owned 5.5% of the market.
It should be noted, India is currently the third largest smartphone market in the world after China and the United States. The Indian market has great growth potential due to the low penetration of smart phones, the growing middle class, as well as the tough competition among the major manufacturers, retailers and mobile operators.
