The outgoing year was remembered important for the history of AMD's deal with THATIC - Chinese developers have the right to use some US technology partner to create own server processors with the x86-based architecture. AMD's, in turn, will receive the money during the development phase of data processors for use in China's server infrastructure, and after their performances on the conveyor will receive royalties from each sold copy.
At the last technology conference Credit Suisse CEO Lisa Su explained that the Chinese server hardware market is the second largest in the world, and should not lose benefits if local developers are ready to create their own processor for this market. AMD has more than ten thousand patents, it is ready to use them for licensing partners - not to the detriment of its own interests, of course. Generally, by the comments of Lisa Su, it was clear that AMD is more interested in improving its own products than in the sale of patents.
