At the moment, AMD launched two graphics processors with Polaris architecture, called Polaris 10 (codename Ellesmere) and Polaris 11 (Baffin).
According to our colleagues from VideoCardz, in the driver file for MacOS Sierra was found information on new, not yet published officially GPUs. These GPU appear under the name Polaris 10 and Polaris 12 XT2.
To begin with it should be noted that the data listed graphics processors separately from Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 so that they are certainly are somewhat different from each other. GPU also mentioned in Vega 10 file, which indicates that the GPU is already in a sufficiently late stage of development.
But what may be hiding under the name Polaris 10 and Polaris XT2 12? It is very likely that it can be revised and improved version of the GPU Polaris 10 and Polaris 11, respectively. Recall that the company AMD plans to release a line of video cards Radeon RX 4x5 on modified and improved versions of graphics processors used in video cards Radeon RX 4x0.
On the other hand, the index XT2 may indicate the use of a single graphics card of two GPUs Polaris 10. Recall that, according to rumors AMD is assembled in the current month to present the video card Radeon RX 490, and one theory is that it just can be built a pair Polaris 10. Finally, it can be assumed that both of the new GPU will be presented only as part of Apple devices, but this is unlikely. Related Products :
