Some manufacturers of automotive components are already expressing concern about the desire of producers to switch to "electric traction." Motor vehicles with a somewhat different set of components, they require other maintenance operations, and the main challenge is to reduce resource capacity traction batteries.
According to Reuters citing comments the head of Continental German media, the major manufacturer of automotive components is aware that as the shift in demand towards electric vehicles will have to rebuild his business. Currently, about 30 thousand of the total population of 280 000 Continental employees in one way or another dependent on the production of internal combustion engines. Many have a cut, and retrain for new posts. Continental pleases only the fact that the process of transition to electric vehicles will be gradual and lengthy, and this will soften the unpleasant consequences of such an evolution.
Last month, Continental representatives have stated that in the coming years the company will increase the cost of development and production of components for electric vehicles, but profits will be affected slightly, as the manufacturer expects a quick financial return from such investments.
