Recently, the interest in the automotive electronics market has been shown by all traditional components developers for PCs and mobile devices. The company NVIDIA is promoting in the segment its Tegra processors, which did not take root in the tablets. Intel Corporation has picked up Mobileye, one of the industry leaders in the development of image processing algorithms, with which Tesla did not have a relationship. Finally, Qualcomm acquired NXP Semiconductors, a leading supplier of microcontrollers for automotive electronics.
As in these conditions, the independent "long-livers" of the industry feel themselves, tells the EE Times resource. Infineon's revenues for the year increased by 10% to 1.77 billion euros, which is 7% more than the results of the previous quarter. Of this amount, about 783 million euros was just on the market of auto components, which is 11% more than the revenue of the previous quarter. Hybrid and electric power plants, active driver assistance systems - these are the areas where the use of Infineon components dictated the increase in demand and revenue. In China, for example, the market for automotive semiconductor products grew by 20%, while Infineon's share increased by 50%.
Now Infineon in this segment is second only to NXP Semiconductors, which recently passed under the control of Qualcomm. In the coming quarter, the company expects to increase revenue by 1-5% in a sequential comparison, and by 8-11% in annual terms. It is the automotive direction that, by the end of the financial year, should bring Infineon to record profitability over the past six years. Related Products :
