The deafening success of notebooks on base of atom processors was not accompanied by high demand for the so-called nettop - inexpensive compact desktop systems on base of analogous processors.
Associate reports that Intel is assembled to increase the market share for atom processors in the budget sector of desktop segment. If now atom 230 and Atom 330 processors compose not more than 4% and 6% from the assortment of dispatched Intel production , then to the fourth quarter 2009 their portion can grow to 10% and 52% respectively. Thus, in a half year all budget desktop systems on base of Intel processors will use the dual core atom. The portion of dual core Celeron e1xxx and single core Celeron 2xx to the fourth quarter will be lowered to 20% and 18% respectively.

However, in the fourth quarter 2009 Intel will release the dual core processors pineview-DC with the integrated memory controller , and the single core Pineview- SC will appear in the first quarter following year. The processors atom 230 and Atom 330 will be then removed . Saturation of markets with systems on base of atom processors will contribute to reduction in the prices of desktop computers.
