In 2014, Intel had to release a new generation of Itanium RISC-processor, known to us codenamed Kittson.  It was expected that this will be the 22-nm solutions, which will replace the 32-nm generation of processors Poulson (Itanium 9500 series). Closer to the expected announcement term  , Intel announced that Kittson processor will be produced using 32nm process technology and will maintain per socket compatibility with previous series, which will facilitate the modernization of existing systems.  However, even in this form the new generation Itanium processors  has not appeared.  Intel has consciously opted for x86-based solutions (Xeon) and the maximum reduced funding for development in the direction of RISC / UNIX systems. As reported a few days ago a representative of Hewlett Packard Enterprise in the European branch of the company, the new system on the Intel Itanium Kittson processor passed the test phase and will go on sale next year.  HPE's customers will receive new platforms closer to the middle of 2017.  Specifications of the new Intel Itanium processors remain unknown.  You can expect that the trends will increase performance per core.  Oracle has, as we know, creates cost of a license for their programs for RISC / UNIX systems in terms of the number of cores.  The smaller cores are executed at Oracle, the cheaper  use of its programs. Market participants are concerned about the  purchase of   British ARM Holding by Japanese company SoftBank.
