POSTER: c   ||    STEAM STATISTICS SHOW A DECREASE IN THE SHARE OF AMD PROCESSORS AND VIDEO CARDS

DATE:2017-07-08

Valve company  publishes monthly statistics, which reflects information about the configuration of users computers of its service for the digital distribution of computer games and Steam programs.  Of course, this statistics does not reflect the full picture, but some trends on it can be traced.

So, the most used operating system is Windows 10 64-bit, the share of which is 50.33%.  In second place is 64-bit Windows 7 with 32.05%.  The share of various versions of the operating system macOS is 2.95%, and various Linux-systems - only 0.72%.

The percentage of AMD processors is increasing, Steam statistics claim the opposite.  So, if in February the share of AMD processors was 21.89%, but now it was reduced to 19.01%.  In general, the most popular are 4-core processors that account for 52.06%, while the second most popular are 2-core processors with a share of 42.23%.

The share of AMD video cards is also decreasing, according to Steam.  The share of AMD fell from 26.2% in January 2016 to 20.5% in June 2017.  It looks like AMD video cards are much more popular in non-gaming areas.  The most popular video card among Steam users is GeForce GTX 1060 with a share of 6.29%.

POSTER: computer news   ||    MSI RELEASES SPECIAL BIOS VERSIONS OF MOTHERBOARDS FOR CRYPTO CURRENCY PRODUCTION

DATE:2017-07-08

To create a system for the production of crypto-currency, in addition to video cards, other components inherent in any computer are required.  The most popular in this area are motherboards on the Intel H81 and B85 chipset, but due to the fact that Intel has already stopped producing these chipsets, such boards are not enough.  As a result, "miners" began to use also motherboards on the chipsets of the 100 series, explains MSI.

Some MSI motherboards on these chipsets allow you to connect up to six video cards, but users found that when connecting to six AMD graphics cards, they are marked with an exclamation mark in the operating system device manager.  And this means that the data of the video card will not work properly during the production of the crypto currency.  In order to fix this, MSI has introduced new special BIOS versions for some of its motherboards.

MSI conducted a series of tests, and considered that its motherboards Z170-A Pro, Z170A SLI Plus, Z170 Krait Gaming, Z170A Krait Gaming, Z170A Krait Gaming 3X, Z270-A Pro and H270-A Pro are suitable for production of crypto currency. .  For these motherboards, new BIOS versions have been introduced that correct the video card recognition error.  It is also reported that after the upgrade, motherboards will better distribute resources between video cards and work better with them.

POSTER: computer news   ||    NEW DATA ABOUT THE SPEED OF AMD RYZEN THREADRIPPER WITH 16 CORES

DATE:2017-07-07

Processors AMD Ryzen Threadripper debut in mid-August.  Colleagues from the WCCFTech site are trying to defuse the situation by publishing another summary on the mentions of the speed of the older 1950X model with 16 cores in databases of known synthetic benchmarks.  They have recently added new entries.  In particular, the 16-core Ryzen Threadripper on the previous 3.4 GHz frequency has progressed in terms of performance in the multi-core tasks of Geekbench 4.1.0, and it also improved performance when working with memory.

In the SiSoftware Sandra test, this processor was generally noted at frequencies close to 4.0 GHz.  At least, we can be sure that he is able to pass tests at this frequency, and this inspires some hope for a high potential for the 16-core model.

Finally, colleagues summarize their research on the formation of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor range and determine their expected characteristics.

There can be no doubt that such a publication will not be the last in the time remaining until the announcement of these processors.

POSTER: computer news   ||   MINER SOLUTIONS BASED ON NVIDIA GP104 HAVE ALREADY BEEN PATENTED IN GPU-Z

DATE:2017-07-07

Some experts after communicating with video card manufacturers have already stated that fans will cash in on the crypto currency boom will be offered special versions of the GeForce GTX 1080. As people rightly noted, this graphic solution is not optimal in terms of specific performance in specialized tasks, and the target audience would have won More if it were offered a GeForce GTX 1070.

The new version of the utility GPU-Z mentions the support of the mysterious products Mining P106 and Mining P104.  If in the first one guesses the GeForce GTX 1060 variants that have entered the market without video outputs, then with the second one everything is not so unambiguous.  Of course, when the GP104 is mentioned, the GeForce GTX 1080 comes first, but the GeForce GTX 1070 also uses the same graphics processor.  It remains to wait for the appearance of the corresponding "accelerators of mining" .
