Press release to notify the community about the release of a new version of the open operating system ReactOC ReactOC On the official website of the project was published today. The project also focuses on Windows-based users, but do not put it on par with the debuting 16.04 ChaletOS . This is fundamentally different in its core projects.

The system is really easy and compact: boot and install images are downloaded from the project website in the archived form, have a volume of 64 and 96 Mb respectively (unpacked - 115 and 199 MB). Of course, to the absolute compatibility with Windows-based applications is still far away, but, nevertheless, the system is quite efficient.

Alas, the developers ReactOC decided to join the race version: Releases will now occur more than once a year and more frequently. In particular, since the release of 0.4.0 it took only 3 months. But the authors of the project honestly write that due to the small amount of time they could not be included in the release any important changes and update mainly concerns a known bug in 0.4.0 error. Although some supplements yet been implemented:

Has a function Activation Context, solves problems with application performance, according to different versions MSVCRT library;
On the Btrfs driver, using the achievements WinBtrfs project, but its functionality is implemented at a basic level of reading and writing;
Changes to the USB stack, improved interoperability and reduced the number of failures to connect and work with USB-devices;
Includes support for folders share drives in virtual machines VirtualBox and VMware;
Minor changes in the graphic design.

Boot and installation images can already be downloaded from the project website in the relevant section. By the end of the week, the developers promise to publish the finished images to virtual machines.
