POSTER: computer news   ||    GOOGLE EXPANDS THE STAFF OF EXPERTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOBILE PROCESSORS

DATE:2017-06-15

Judging by the profile news , Google Corporation is not going to abandon the sale of smartphones under its own brand Pixel, entrusting the development of new models to contractors.   Google Corporation began to expand the staff of developers of mobile processors, and the team should lead Manu Gulati (, who for some time was engaged in the development of Apple processors for the iPhone, and before that he worked in Broadcom, where before Also developed processors with a high degree of integration.

Experts believe that Google's initiative to intensify the development of its own processors for smartphones involves several risks.  To begin with, Google sold no more than a million smartphones of the Pixel family of all models, and the presence of a unique processor is unlikely to immediately increase their popularity.  Secondly, the development of a processor for a smartphone today costs at least $ 500 million, and these costs will have to somehow justify.  Finally, the smartphone market is not growing as actively as before, and making a long-term bet on its own processors is not entirely safe.  Google intends to attract about 200 professionals around the world that would help the corporation accelerate the development of its own mobile processors.

POSTER: computer news   ||    LEAKS ABOUT MINER-CARDS ON NVIDIA GPU

DATE:2017-06-15

The site VideoCardz has information on adapters for mining on NVIDIA chips, which a week earlier lit up as part of farms.  Two such adapters are prepared by MSI.  Also, Colorful and ASUS have prepared their version of adapters for crypto currency production.  All models of adapters of the first wave, apparently, will represent copies of game video cards, but only without video outputs.  More specialized solutions with some optimization are likely to appear later if the interest in crypto-currencies does not subside.  However, even now for miner-cards promised to increase production efficiency by 10-30% compared with the game versions of adapters.

MSI has prepared for release two adapters on NVIDIA Pascal GP106-100 and P104-100 chips.  The composition of each of these GPUs is unknown, but you can expect that the specifications will repeat the game analogues: GeForce GTX 1060 and GTX 1080. The warranty period for solutions will be reduced to three months, which, in particular, will reduce the retail cost of adapters.  Deliveries of solutions are expected this month.  Soon we should wait for official information.

POSTER: computer news   ||    ASUSTEK MAY FACE THE NEED TO REDUCE STAFF

DATE:2017-06-15

Asustek Computer will face the need to reduce the number of staff during the planned reorganization, which will affect the release of those products that are sold worse than others.  For example, the company has already refused to further expand the range of desktop gaming systems and smart watches, and in the segment of gaming laptops, the brand position is actively crowding MSI.

Again, the sources expect that in the third quarter Asustek will be able to increase revenue in a sequential comparison by 20%, as new Asus notebooks and ZenFone 4 smartphones will enter the market.

POSTER: computer news   ||    THE FIRST INTRODUCTION TO THE WIRELESS VERSION OF THE VR-HELMET HTC VIVE

DATE:2017-06-15

If you believe the previous news , the virtual reality helmets of popular brands will start switching to wireless communication interfaces by the end of the third quarter - at least at the level of prototypes.  Intel Corporation has already announced its cooperation with HTC, committed to providing the Vive virtual reality helmet with WiGig's wireless interface support.  Colleagues from the site PCWorld managed to test in the prototype helmet HTC Vive, supplemented by a wireless communication module with a PC.

We emphasize that it is too early to draw conclusions about the mass-dimensional characteristics of this accessory, since Intel and HTC unanimously speak about future changes as the prototype becomes a serial product.  Now the module with support for the WiGig interface resembles a 3.5 "hard drive, which is attached to the back of the user's head, but is about to move closer to the parietal area." Having such a counterweight with prolonged use causes fatigue of the neck muscles.

However, it is not necessary to speak about delays in the response of the helmet to the user's actions.  According to representatives of Intel, the delay does not exceed 7 ms.  This is enough to provide adequate responsiveness in the perception of most users.

In the system unit, you need to install a WiGig adapter that uses the PCI Express x1 slot.  This raises questions of compatibility not only with laptops, but also with game consoles, whose owners, too, would not mind to avoid "cable bondage".  Neither the duration of the battery life of this version of HTC Vive, nor the price, nor the timing of its appearance on the market has yet been called.  Representatives of Intel only make it clear that the technology of wireless transmission of information can be adapted for other helmets of virtual reality.  It all depends only on the pliability of their developers.
