DATE:2016-03-06

array(3) { One of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD panels - Taiwanese company AU Optronics (AUO) - the mass production of small-format OLED displays has developed relatively recently .  It happened about less than five years ago.  To date, the production volumes of small-sized OLED panels AUO lines increased significantly, but the company still considers this type of activity is not enough demand.

According to company management, at the end of last year AUO shipped to customers about one million OLED displays for smartphones and wearable electronics.  In 2016, the company further escalate OLED release, intending to go to the emerging new generation of devices market for immersion in virtual reality.  Also, the company plans to bring to mind the development of flexible OLED.  All this, however, does not force the company to begin the installation of new production lines for processing substrates for OLED.

Thus, in the third quarter, the company introduces  AUO to its new factory in China (in the city of Kunshan) new lines for processing the 6th generation glass substrates for the production of LCD panels at low temperature silicon technology (LTPS).  According to conventional classification generation 6G substrates can be with parties 1500-1870 x 1800-2200 mm.  The company AU Optronics on new lines can each month  produce approximately 25 thousand Such substrates, which are planned to be cut on the screens for smartphones with a resolution FullHD and laptop.  At the same time the company believes that in the event of a really high demand for OLED, it can be placed on this production line for the production of displays with LEDs from organic materials.     ["main"]=> array(1) { [0]=> NULL } [1]=> array(1) { [0]=> NULL } }

POSTER: computer news   ||   RAMBUS OFFERS PROCESSORS MANUFACTURERS TO REPEATEDLY EARNING ON USER

DATE:2016-03-06

Rambus company  does not need a special introduction.  There is hardly anyone in the semiconductor industry, who can tell about it a few kind words.  It started with forgery of documentation and continued buying up companies and development, which gives it a base in the patent war on many fronts.

New Initiative Rambus directly affect users.  The company offers manufacturers of processors to sell solutions with a limited set of features, but then for the money remotely unlock certain functions.  This so-called service Feature as a Service (FaaS) or expanding upon request.

In the coming years, Rambus warned  , semiconductor manufacturers face a termination of Moore's Law, which means that a relatively simple means to profit from the production - reducing the rate of production and increasing the density of the chips - will not work.  So why not start earning on activation  of processors functions?  For example, Intel company in 2010 began selling Pentium processors with an option to increase the clock frequency for an additional charge.

POSTER: computer news   ||    GRAPHICS NVIDIA PASCAL SOLUTIONS WILL BE PRESCRIBED IN NOTEBOOKS IN JUNE

DATE:2016-03-06

March is quite rich on industry events: in the middle of the month in the United States will host a conference GDC 2016 for computer games developers, and at the same time in Germany will be held the exhibition CeBIT 2016. just over a week left until the start of the two events.

NVIDIA is ready to present Pascal graphics solutions for laptops at Computex 2016 - the event will begin work on May 31 this year. However, the final announcement phase is scheduled for June 16.  If NVIDIA will not be forced to move the date, the corresponding graphics solutions will be prescribed in the generation of Pascal series laptops for the new academic year, or a little earlier.  For this market segment is the optimal strategy.

Recall that NVIDIA founder has to make a presentation at GTC 2016 the fifth of April this year.  Perhaps his speech will contain references to certain decisions of Pascal-generation graphics.

DATE:2016-03-06

Although in their public updated roadmaps AMD Company makes no mention of hybrid processors Stoney Ridge, from previous publications, we know that they can be offered both in Socket AM4 desktop with DDR4 support, and in FP4 laptop.  In fact, from the more productive  Bristol Ridge processors Stoney Ridge will differ only by reduced to two pieces  cores and frequency characteristics, as well as cache memory.  These processors will  use Excavator architecture that AMD after some hesitation decided to advance in the desktop segment, even for platform Socket FM2 +.

GeekBench3 found a mention about the speed of Stoney Ridge processors in synthetic tests.

Stoney Ridge processors, AMD showed a decent performance in integer operations, although this potential somewhat lost in the transition to multi-threading.  However, in tasks related to navigation on the network and work in office applications, processors Stoney Ridge should show rather well against the competition.

The floating-point calculations Stoney Ridge Go to White Castle from its predecessors, but not as much ahead of its competitors.  In multithreaded tasks advantage is lost.
