IDCAnalysts shared interesting observations on the market of devices of augmented and virtual reality for the first quarter  this year.  Although software giants such as Microsoft and Apple unanimously assert that the potential of the market for complemented reality technologies is incommensurably greater than the segment of virtual reality devices, while the virtual reality is winning in the market.  At least 2.3% of the devices sold in the first quarter accounted for 98% of virtual reality solutions, and only 2% had to do with the reality of the augmented one, and in the latter case, it was mainly about prototypes distributed among software developers, Rather than products for the consumer market.

Recall that Oculus VR and HTC do not disclose the sales volume of their virtual reality devices, and a relatively open policy in this sense is only Sony Corporation.  It was in second place after Samsung in the ranking of the largest players in the virtual reality devices market.  The popularity of PlayStation VR helmets is promoted by a mature ecosystem and a large user base.  Samsung is becoming the leader due to the popularity of Gear VR glasses, which are used in conjunction with smartphones of this brand.  In general, such headsets make up two thirds of the virtual reality devices market, and helmets connected to PCs or laptops are content with the third market.

HTC Vive is twice as popular as Oculus Rift, although with the spread of Oculus Touch manipulators and taking into account the reduction in the price of the kit to $ 499, Facebook has every chance of catching up.  The fifth place went to TCL, which produces virtual reality glasses for smartphones brand Alcatel.  According to the results of the year, as IDC experts believe, the market volume of devices of virtual and augmented reality can triple.  However, a significant obstacle to its growth remains the disparity of the platforms and the lack of sufficient diversity in digital content.

Intel Corporation, apparently, decided to reinforce its desire to help partners in the development of "autopilot" for land transport by some sociological research and forecasts, and therefore posted on its website a 30-page report on Strategy Analytics, which was commissioned by the processor giant.  The main idea of this research, which was in the headlines of news, is the potential capacity of the transport services market, which by 2050 should exceed $ 7 billion in revenue figures.

A significant part of this turnover will come from private road transport, but there will be no commercial traffic aside.  Many residents of cities, which by 2050 will be at least two-thirds of the world's population, prefer to give up ownership of personal vehicles, renting unmanned vehicles as needed.  True, as the authors of the study note, in countries with a growing economy and historically low level of motorization.  .  In the US, the average car owner spends about $ 12,544 per year on his car, in Germany, which until recently was one of the world's largest auto markets, the car owner spends at least $ 8,800 a year on average.

Refusal of personal transport will not only save money, but also relieve the streets of cars.  According to statistics, 92% of the time a personal car spends on parking lots, parking lots and in garages.  In the future, people will use transport more rationally, teaming up with friends and colleagues for joint trips .  Automation of transport would allow for about ten years to save about half a million lives.

According to the authors of the study, residents of large cities around the world daily spend at least forty minutes on trips on average.  If you do not need to drive at this time and follow the road, people will not only have more time to rest (and view advertising), but also free your hands to do some work.  However, physiologists say that people do not really want to watch videos, read or browse internet sites while traveling by car, since a significant proportion of passengers are beginning to feel the symptoms of motion sickness.

In general, Intel decided to show the world at its own expense, for which it is necessary to invest in the development of "smart" cars, which a huge army of drivers will transfer to other areas of employment.  The fleet of rolling "robobooms" will be operated more actively, it will need to be serviced more often, and someone must deal with it.  There will also be new business models.  For example, having a need for regular use of cars, citizens will buy a "share" in one or more rental robo cars, reserving the right to dispose of them in certain periods or on certain routes.  Employers will be able to provide staff transfer services from home to office and back as part of the compensation package.  At the same time, it will be possible to strictly control the use of "official transport", not allowing it to withdraw from a contracted route.  In other words, the automotive world is waiting for big changes, and it is necessary to start preparing for them now.

POSTER: computer news   ||    INTEL CORE I9 PROCESSORS CARRY AN RFID TAG UNDER THE COVER

DATE:2017-06-04

The famous German enthusiast and craftsman Der8auer shares the news that the Intel Core i9-7800X processors under the heat distribution cover hide the RFID or NFC radio tag.  This was discovered during the process of "screwing" the lid off the processor.   Der8auer , as is known, develops and sells simple tools for the relatively safe removal of covers from Intel processors.  For LGA 2066 processors, such a device is also ready - DeLid Die Mate 2.

By the way, the mark, as it turned out, can be damaged by removing the cover by the "make-up" method, which is practiced by Der8auer .  While the solution has not been identified and its description is not available in the Intel technical documentation available for study.  It should be recognized that in a working PC under a massive radiator, it is not possible to read data from a label.  Data from conventional labels is read only when the reader is in close contact with the reader.  True, there are tags, information from which can be removed from a distance of several meters.

POSTER: computer news   ||    THE EUROPEAN REGULATOR DOES NOT SEE THE INTENTION OF QUALCOMM TO COOPERATE IN THE DECISION TO ABSORB NXP

DATE:2017-06-04

On Friday, the European regulator on anti-monopoly said that the American company Qualcomm did not provide any offers and concessions on the acquisition of NXP Semiconductors. The deal was announced last fall. The price of the issue could amount to $ 38 billion, or, taking into account the repayment of NXP debts, $ 47 billion. The decision to approve the transaction or to initiate an antimonopoly investigation in Europe must be taken before June 9. As Qualcomm ignores the cooperation, the European regulator can launch aprocess of additional problem study and postpone the decision date for a period of up to four months. Qualcomm competitors, in turn, require the regulator to guarantee that after the acquisition of NXP, the new owner will not prohibit the use of the popular Mifare technology. This is a method of contactless authentication and payment for services (travel and other). Also, Qualcomm's competitors are unhappy with the company's licensing policy. Well, in a week it will become clear whether Qualcomm will receive the right to take over NXP or this bagpipe will be stretched for an even longer period.
