POSTER: computer news   ||    IN THE JAPANESE RETAIL THERE IS A VIDEO CARD ASUS GT 1030 WITH PASSIVE COOLING

DATE:2017-05-30

Two weeks ago, NVIDIA and its partners presented various versions of the entry-level graphics card GeForce GT 1030 on the GP108-300 GPU.  Among the presented novelties were solutions with both active cooling and passive. ASUS company  for some reason did not have time to announce by May 17.  Sales of the version of GeForce GT 1030 produced by this Taiwanese manufacturer started only yesterday.  So, in the Japanese retail there was a model ASUS GT 1030 (SL-2-GBRK) at about $ 96.

The video card ASUS GT 1030 is made in a low profile and is cooled without a fan - only due to the large area of the radiator.

The GP108-300 GPU features in the adapter are installed according to the standard prescriptions.  The base frequency is 1228 MHz, and the frequency with automatic overclock reaches 1468 MHz.  The memory frequency of GDDR5 is 6008 MHz, and its volume and bus width, respectively, are 2 GB and 64 bits.  One HDMI 2.0 port and one SL-DVI port exit the mounting bracket.  The board's dimensions are 173 × 69 × 40 mm.

POSTER: computer news   ||    KINGSTON RELEASES ITS FIRST NVME SSD - KINGSTON KC1000 WITH 240, 480 AND 960 GB

DATE:2017-05-29

The company Kingston announced its first PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, running on the protocol NVMe.  The novelty is made in the form factor M.2 2280 and received the name Kingston KC1000.  Technically, this drive is not intended for retail, as indicated by the letters "KC" in the name of the model, which, however, does not prevent the presence of such SSDs as the KC300 and KC400 on store shelves.

Interestingly, despite the Kingston HyperX Predator, which used the Marvell controller and is now gaining an increasing platform on 88SS1093 from the same developer, Kingston preferred Phison platform for the release of KC1000:  Phison E7 controller (Phison PS5007-E7) is used.  The flash memory array is a 15-nanometer planar MLC NAND from Toshiba.  Most likely, the technical difference from the Patriot Hellfire we tested recently will be minimal.

Three variants of the volume are declared: 240, 480 and 960 GB.  The linear reading speeds reach 2,700 MB / s, the records are 900-1600 MB / s (depending on the volume), the performance level is up to 290,000 IOPS on reading and 190,000 IOPS on the record.  The declared resource is 300, 550 and 1000 TB of recorded data, depending on the volume of the drive.  The term of the firm guarantee is 5 years.

For all three modifications of volumes, two options will be supplied: only the drive itself and the drive bundled with the adapter card for installation in the PCI-Express x4 expansion slot.  In the price lists, they can be distinguished by marking SKC1000 / *** G and SKC1000 H / *** G, respectively.

POSTER: computer news   ||    TOSHIBA WOULD PREFER TO SELL A BUSINESS OF ISSUING MEMORY TO JAPANESE INVESTORS

DATE:2017-05-29

According to the publication of The Japan Times , last week, Toshiba's management made it clear to the company's creditors  does not see Western Digital Corporation among the favorites of this race.  Most likely, it's not even in price, as the US hard drive manufacturer offers at least $ 17.9 billion, like all other contenders.

Nevertheless, representatives of Toshiba let the creditors understand that the possibility of selling Western Digital assets from the agenda is not being removed, and the negotiations will continue.  For Toshiba itself, the best option would be to sell a solid-state memory business to a consortium of Japanese investors, which included the Innovation Network Corp.  Of Japan and the State Development Bank of Japan.  In addition, this group of investors is supplemented by certain American companies.  Perhaps, it is an investment fund, although earlier information appeared about WDC's willingness to seek support from Japanese investors.

In any case, Toshiba can not so easily ignore the interests of WDC, because the company owns a joint venture, the share in which went to Americans after buying SanDisk.  Through the intricacies of legal nuances WDC is now trying to find leverage on Toshiba leadership  .
