POSTER: computer news   ||   DUAL SIDE MEMORY IS MORE ADVANTAGEOUS FOR AMD RYZEN IN TERMS OF SPEED

DATE:2017-04-16

Colleagues from the German site Golem.de singled out an experiment with the search for optimal memory for Ryzen in a self-succinct, laconic material.  They proved in practice that when choosing between peer-to-peer memory modules and dual-circuit memory modules, the preference should be given to the latter, since, other things being equal, they allow to raise the speed of the system based on AMD Ryzen processors.

If you will use peer-to-peer DDR4 memory modules, then you should choose modes of operation that combine high frequencies and low delays (the extreme graph on the right).

POSTER: computer news   ||    IN THE SECOND QUARTER, WHOLESALE PRICES FOR MEMORY FOR PCS WILL GROW BY NO LESS THAN 12.5 PERCENTS

DATE:2017-04-16

Memory for PCs continues to grow in price and even outstrips the forecasts of the increase in value.  In any case, this is evidenced by a fresh report of analysts of the DRAMeXchange division of the trading platform TrendForce.  Based on the transactions examined for the first quarter and already concluded contracts for the supply of PC memory in the second quarter, it is concluded that at the very beginning of the second quarter, the average wholesale prices for 4GB DDR4 modules increased by 12.5%.  So, if in the first quarter the average wholesale price of the memory module was $ 24, then in April the cost increased to $ 27.

Alas, for the entire second quarter of the memory for the PC will continue to grow in price.  This will happen for the reason that for a known shortage with memory slots for PCs (a year ago there was a dangerous bias towards the release of memory modules for servers and mobile memory for smartphones), problems will arise with the development of memory manufacturing technologies with 10 nm technology standards.

The companies Samsung and Micron in the middle of the first quarter of this year began to release, respectively, 18-nm and 17-nm DDR4 chips.  Prior to that, Samsung produced 18-nm DDR4 chips primarily for building server memory modules.  The beginning of deliveries of DDR4 modules based on 18-nm DDR4 crystals was overshadowed by the high failure of modules in modern laptop platforms.  Even there was a rumor that the companies returned a large batch of defective bars, which Samsung then denied.  Today, DRAMeXchange experts again say that the company suffers from a high level of marriage in the production of 18-nm memory chips, and from the complexities with the design of memory modules for PCs based on 18-nm DDR4.

As for Micron's 17-nm DDR4, there is also no comforting information.  At the moment, the company is carrying out an experimental supply of memory modules on new chips and it is unlikely that they will start mass production on them until the third quarter.  As for the company SK Hynix, it does not even try to release memory with the norms less than 20 nm.

The rise in memory prices for PCs will automatically spur the price of server memory and memory for smartphones.  Mobile memory will be affected to a lesser extent (for the quarter it will rise by about 5%), and server memory will rise in price by 10-15%.

POSTER: computer news   ||    NEW ANDROID-SMARTPHONE SAMSUNG CERTIFIED WI-FI ALLIANCE

DATE:2017-04-16

Certification in the organization WiFi Alliance (WFA) was an enigmatic Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-G888N0.

Received a certificate of Wi-Fi new smartphone Samsung is running the mobile operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow.  Its technical characteristics are not specified.  The exact terms of its release, its cost and, of course, the name are unknown.  According to one version, the SM-G888N0 is Galaxy X, the first Samsung smartphone with a flexible display.  Its announcement is expected in the third quarter of 2017.

In addition to the SM-G888N0, Samsung is preparing to release another smartphone with the model number SM-G892A.  According to SamMobile , under this number is hidden Galaxy S8 Active for mobile operator AT & T, developed under the code name Cruiser.  What specifications he will receive is not specified.  For now, you can only assume that the Galaxy S8 Active, like its predecessors, will be clad in a solid case protected from falls, dust and moisture.

POSTER: computer news   ||    OWNERS OF RYZEN AND KABY LAKE HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO RECEIVE UPDATES ON WINDOWS 7

DATE:2017-04-16

Microsoft corrupted the owners of modern processors, forcing them to upgrade to modern versions of Windows.    Lucky only owners of Skylake processors, which full support in Windows 7 and 8.1 was promised before July 17 this year, and they can receive updates until January 14, 2020 and January 10, 2023, respectively.

Colleagues from Tech Report report that the long-planned threat of excommunication of Ryzen and Kaby Lake owners from Windows updates for versions 7 and 8.1 of this operating system is now fully implemented.

The owners of the latest AMD and Intel processors can not install updates of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1: they will either face a warning like in the illustration, or they will receive an error code   80240037. The owners of Ryzen and Kaby Lake can not install these operating systems either.  According to Microsoft, the only reasonable way out of this situation is to go to Windows 10.
