POSTER: computer news   ||   PROCESSORS WITH X86-BASED ARCHITECTURE AND SMARTPHONES INTEL BUSINESS IS ALIVE AND WELL

DATE:2017-02-28

It is believed that Intel after years of unsuccessful attempts to gain a foothold in the segment of mobile processors put an end to release of not only tablets, but also smartphones.  Now class Intel products are addressed to a wider user base, covered by the term "Internet of Things".  Moreover, perhaps the greater value of the last segment of the market is to promote wireless generation networks 5G, the processor giant also intends to participate in it.

However, as the resource PCWorld, begun in 2014, Intel co-operation with the Chinese developers of processors shows its fruits so far.  At least, smartphones samples based on Spreadtrum's latest processors with x86-based architecture on display at MWC 2017 was on Intel stand .  In the second half of this year, Spreadtrum will start deliveries of 8-core Atom processor with Airmont architecture for use in smartphones sold in the Chinese market.  The specificity of the product is that the built-in modem processor is geared for work in local bands of cellular networks.

Processor Spreadtrum SC9861G-IA will be equipped with a graphics subsystem PowerVR GT7200 and support 4K-video and display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.  It will be released on 14 nm technology and will support two cameras with resolution up to 13 megapixels.  Rockchip company also develops processors in collaboration with Intel, but they are used mainly in the segment of "Internet of Things".

DATE:2017-02-28

One of the participants in the World Mobile Congress MWC 2017, which these days takes place in Barcelona, was the Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC.  As part of the MWC in 2017  presented a mobile processor Helio X30.  It is designed for use in premium devices.

MediaTek company  has announced the launch of the flagship chip Helio X30.  The first smartphones based on Helio X30 will hit the market in the second quarter of 2017.  Helio X30 was the first 10 core processor, performed on a 10-nanometer process technology.  Its energy efficiency in comparison with a precursor could increase by more than 50% and the efficiency - approximately 35%.

The structure consists of ten Helio X30 cores, divided into three clusters.  One cluster consists of two Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz, the second - of the four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 2.2 GHz, and the third cluster includes four core Cortex-A35 clocked at up to 1.9 GHz.  For graphical component responsible PowerVR Series7XT Plus processor with a clock speed of 880 MHz.  Also, the new chip is equipped with a built-in LTE-modem WorldMode Cat.10.

Helio X30 processor supports dual cameras with resolutions up to 16 megapixels, as well as the development tools of virtual reality.  For processing features built-in visual camera responds processor Vision Processing Unit paired with the signal processing technology, MediaTek Imagiq 2.0

POSTER: computer news   ||   MEDIATEK COREPILOT 4.0 TECHNOLOGY WILL PROVIDE SMARTPHONES MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE WITH MINIMUM POWER CONSUMPTION

DATE:2017-02-28

As part of the World Congress MWC 2017, which these days takes place in Barcelona, the Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek introduced not only a new flagship processor 10 core Helio X30 , but CorePilot 4.0 technology.  It will provide smartphones incredible power and energy efficiency.

CorePilot 4.0 technology is designed for load control smartphone so as to provide the perfect balance of performance and energy efficiency.  It is implemented in the new chip Helio X30.

CorePilot 4.0 saves about 25% more power than the previous version of the technology.  It uses smart resource allocation system, which takes into account temperature, prioritize the tasks and predicts power consumption.  This device operates in the most effective to perform a given task.  The system adapts to the specific requirements of the user to the device.

For maximum efficiency and performance using CorePilot 4.0 used in processor architecture.  Cores broken into three clusters, work at different clock frequency and perform the tasks of different levels - maximum, medium and minimum.  Note that now the majority of mobile processors have a two-cluster configuration.  One type of cores designed to run energy-intensive tasks, and the other - for simpler tasks.

CorePilot 4.0 technology with centralized systems task scheduling ensures stable operation of mobile devices with maximum performance and minimal power consumption.
