POSTER: computer news   ||   SCYTHE INTRODUCED MUGEN 5 PROCESSOR COOLING SYSTEM

DATE:2016-12-10

The Japanese company Scythe has introduced the fifth version of its CPU air cooling system Mugen.  According to the manufacturer, the new version, called simply Mugen 5, received a number of improvements, and is able to offer an even higher performance level  than its predecessor.

Mugen 5 cooling system includes a very large heatsink made of aluminum plates, which permeates the six U-shaped nickel-plated copper heat pipes with a diameter of 6 mm.  The heat pipes pass through a nickel-plated copper base.

For blowing Mugen 5 cooling radiator is responsible 120mm fan Kaze Flex, which is built on the hydrodynamic bearing and supports the speed control by PWM.  The fan rotation speed 300 to 1200 r / min, creating airflow in the 16.6 - 51.17 CFM (28,2 - 86.93 cubic meters / hr) and the noise level in this case is in the range of 4 to 24.9 dBA.  Note that on the back side of the radiator can be fixed another 120-mm fan.

The cooling system is compatible with all current CPU sockets, including Intel LGA 2011 (-3) and LGA 115x and AMD Socket AM3 (+) and FM2 (+).  Cooling Scythe Mugen 5 has already appeared for sale on the European market at an estimated price of 40 euros.

POSTER: computer news   ||   AMD PARTNERS ALREADY SEEN A DECENT LEVEL OF ZEN PROCESSOR SPEED

DATE:2016-12-10

It was obvious that AMD's technology conference Barclays CFO Devinder Kumar (Devinder Kumar) can not ignore the comparative speed of the subject being prepared for  announcement of processors Zen architecture.  He explained, as we learned yesterday that the samples of these processors are available from the middle of this year, and in the desktop segment, deliveries of production models for enthusiasts begin in the first quarter of the coming year.

When an analyst from among those present at the event, tried to find out how AMD's confident a decent level performance processors with Zen architecture, the chief financial officer of the company said the processor samples already tested by partners of the company, and are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to begin the deliveries of serial computers based on processors with Zen architecture.  Generally, if it is needed now, AMD could make public the results of comparative tests, and everything would have been clear that the processors with Zen architecture can successfully compete with Core i7 and Core i5.  This statement was made by Devinder Kumar.  He immediately added that processors Zen are in direct competition with Core i7 and Core i5, they also support work with multiple streams at the same time.

After these words,  Kumar   moved to a discussion about how the appearance of Zen processor in the market will affect the rate of profit.  The latter figure will be able to improve as  Zen processors will not be the least expensive.  They will be one of the drivers to improve the welfare of AMD in 2017, helping to improve profit margins with 31-32% to 36-40% in certain long-term.

AMD PARTNERS ALREADY SEEN A DECENT LEVEL OF ZEN PROCESSOR SPEED

POSTER: computer news   ||   AMD ADMITTED THAT IT CONTROLS LESS THAN 10 PERCENT OF THE MARKET FOR PC PROCESSORS

DATE:2016-12-10

During the discussion of the possible influence of Zen architecture processors on the market for PC components at a conference Barclays CFO Devinder Kumar touched their ability to increase market share, owned by AMD.  In the course of his argument he made it clear that the market share in terms of revenue is more important for him, as for the main financier than the proportion in the number of processors shipped.  Increasing revenue and profit margins, the company will be able to invest in new product development .

Market productive desktop processors at this point attractive to AMD.  Firstly, its capacity is estimated at $ 4 billion. Secondly, AMD products currently can not compete on it, and it recognizes itself CFO.

Now AMD share of the PC processor market does not exceed 10%.  In the server market segment, AMD takes no more than 1%.  The capacity of the latter as a whole is estimated at $ 15-18 billion., And after the release of processors Zen company would like to attack a competitor in the 80% of the product range for servers.  Here it ambition is even higher than in the desktop sector.

POSTER: computer news   ||    AMD ONCE AGAIN REMINDS OF INTENT TO GO TO 7-NM PROCESS

DATE:2016-12-10

Since AMD CEO Lisa Su  at the beginning of the month has already conducted outreach to investors about future plans in the field of lithography at Barclays Conference CFO could only confirm these intentions.

Devinder Kumar  talked about how important it is to have long-term partnerships with contract manufacturers of semiconductors.  Then he said, AMD is now the recipient of a 14-nm and 16-nm products using FinFET, and subsequently planned transition to 7-nm technology.  This month, Lisa Su has already explained that GlobalFoundries will not be the sole supplier of a 7-nm products for the AMD.  Of course, diversification - is good, but we should not forget that Samsung plans to be among the first to begin the use of EUV-lithography is within a 7-nm technology.  Firstly, it introduces an element of risk both in terms of implementation, and the level of product yield, as well as the ability of the contractor to produce its AMD in the right quantities.

Secondly, as TSMC and GlobalFoundries use of EUV-lithography within the 7-nm technology is not planning, the release of the same products with the transfer conveyor for Samsung require additional costs.  Most likely,  Samsung will specialize in the production of a narrow range of AMD products - and not the fact that prior to such cooperation within the framework of the 7-nm technology it comes at all.  Of course,  Intel will also use of EUV-lithography in the production of 7-nm products, but the cooperation of AMD company with  in this area is very difficult.
