Japanese PC makers for a long time are not experiencing the best of times. Now available under the brand name VAIO laptops sold mainly on the domestic market. Some time ago, was rumorsof assets consolidation of three Japanese notebooks manufacturers: Toshiba, Fujitsu and VAIO.   Toshiba escaped as a result of restructuring, to negotiate with the other parties the transaction failed.

According to Reuters citing the Nikkei, the Japanese news agency, Fujitsu Lenovo company may agree with the partial transfer of assets for the production of   Chinese PC giant, or the formation of a joint venture. In the first case, Lenovo will have a greater stake. In the second variant meant Lenovo transfer of authority for the design and manufacture of PC. About two thousand employees of Fujitsu can go to work to Lenovo. Representatives from both companies declined to comment.

Intel, as already known , produced a new server processor socket - Intel LGA 3647. This connector takes the place connectors LGA 2011, LGA 2011-2 and 2011-3 LGA.

Interesting video with the installation of a new processor socket posted ServeTheHome site. We are talking about the motherboard Supermicro 2U4N for Intel Knight Landing processor (Xeon Phi). By the way, it is unusual to see a processor with six cores surrounded by dozens of DRAM memory modules without CPU.

For greater clarity, the site compare the scale placed next to the processor Xeon Phi with LGA 3647 and Intel Xeon processors E5 (Broadwell EP) and Xeon D (Broadwell DE). Such processors like Xeon D in the LGA 3647 connector can fit as many as four of them.

Note that the new processor socket is devoid of mechanical latches. Instead, the processor with heat sink is screwed to the board using four screws.

Japanese stores periodically arrange the sale of obsolete components. Sometimes everything is limited to demonstration of museum pieces in order to attract the public to other goods. One of the Japanese stores this week put the laminated instance of processor AMD K6-III Socket 7. These processors were introduced in 1999.

If the video card were cooled with liquid nitrogen, then the CPU used water block at a frequency 4.2 GHz.

But even a modest rate CPU has not prevented the French enthusiast to take second place in the standings model 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra with a score of 6396 points with a pair of video cards Asus ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Strix OC Edition, operating at frequencies 2290/11600 MHz.

Second place in 3DMark Time Spy test with a score of 8967 points was employed under similar conditions. This example proves that the high frequency of the CPU is not always a condition providing 'prizes'.
