What processor in AMD do you prefer? Am using AMD Simpron. This is 2 GHz capacity. I have got 1GB ram for it. I could see my computer is fast. But i do not use any gamings in my system. So am not able to measure the fullest capability of mine.

Intel processor Core 2 Quad EXtreme  ;D

Well this is the very fast moving processor in the market as well. Any one buying a new computer prefer this option. And do you think, AMD will gain more popularity or Intel will be the invincible in the market.

If I were to choose an AMD chip that is intended for gaming it would be Athlon. But for now i would still stick with Intel processors.

Intel will be the invincible in the market. at least for the coming year .
Intel will show this summer nehalem processor (new architecture) while AMD will show up its next generation processor only in Q3 2009 .

I have the same CPU, overclocked to 2400 Mhz with 1 Gb memory

In gaming i play with a range of 60-80 fps

It's not bad processor but with the new gaming generation it's little outdated  ;D

I would have to agree with another poster here. For gaming purposes I would have to go with an athalon processor from AMD. I actually only buy AMD processors as they seem to be better overall and last much longer anyway. I have not tried a whole lot of them but go with what I find I like.

Yes this was true 2 year ago when Athlon 64 was the fastest processor . But now Intel Core 2 Duo are even faster .

In my opinion i 'll go with athlon x2 5000+ black edition and of course OCing it i see people suck it up till 3.5GHz and it's not power hungry like other 90nm x2 processors specially the 6400+ BE
my second option in AMD will be the phenom 9850 which could reach 3.1Ghz
BUT now intel is demonstrated and core 2 series is the best

AMD are currently crap : low performance , high TDP , low overclocking potential
GO with intel core 2 duo : better performance , low TDP and better overclocking potential

but for the TDP u misses an important thing
Both Intel and AMD measure it by their own way while Intel say "The TDP is not the maximum power that the processor can dissipate" AMD has another opinion "Thermal Design Power (TDP) is measured under the conditions of TCASE Max, IDD Max, and VDD=VID_VDD, and include all power dissipated on-die from VDD, VDDIO, VLDT, VTT, and VDDA" This means that TDP, as defined by AMD, is measured at the maximum current the CPU can draw, at the default voltage, under the worst-case temperature conditions. This is the maximum power that the CPU can possibly dissipate

so in most cases AMD's TDP will be more than INTEL's one

But still, its been proven that AMD's 65nm process couldn't stand up to Intel's 65nm process. AMD can hardly hit 2.8 Ghz with its 64nm phenoms, and probably that's why we haven't seen a model above 2.6 - 2.7 Ghz. And they had once demonstrated a 3.2 Ghz phenom. I wonder what they were thinking lol. And they would require liquid nitrogen to make those phenoms run at 3.2 ghz. :p On the other hand, look at Intel, their 65nm process could easily hit 3.6 on a QUAD core and even higher on water cooling.

Do u mean 65 nm ?
New B3 phenom could overclock already to 2.8 GHz - 3 ghz . Some lucky processor can get as high as 3.2-3.3 or even 3.5 GHz water cooled .
ANy way MHz for Mhz intel processor are faster, in addition they overclock higher (intel)

yeah....Its true that intel 65 nm processors deliver very powerful performance and performance efficiency.For better overclocking potential i will never go for AMD.
