HI There ; Do you find this message annoying? Why not make a post and get rid of it ?

hi there
in my old Pc, i am having win Xp and WIN 98.The drives c and d are working well in win xp but win 98 is not able to detect hard drive d.
Can you suggest some solution?

Most likely this is due to the large disk volume . Windows 98 has a max of 64GB and windows 98SE 137GB per partition .

i think that you must try to re install win 98 as it might have got corrupted.

hi there
thanks for your reply i want to say that earlier win 98 was working very fine but now it is not detecting the disk.I am having both the disks 20 gb each.

Try a fresh windows reinstall , and check your HDD with full cluster scan . If they support smart just run any HDD utility and check the current state of each offset to make sure that your HDD are working normally and your data is safe.

I agree, check the hard drive for bad clusters first then just make sure if you reinstall windows install windows 98 first before installing Windows XP.

I think this problem is due to the partition type (NTFS)
try to format (or just convert) the undetected ones to FAT32

well, i think you should try to format the drive in which win98 is installed and then reinstall it.No need to reinstall win xp.

First take all necessary back-up of your data and then format both the disk and try to reinstall operating system again.I hope this will work for you.
