The last processor I bought was an AMD 2500+  Shocked

Yeah, I'm old school. Grin  I choose AMD because their chips are usually more efficient than Intel.  Lower clockspeeds, but more efficient and better for gaming and overclocking.

I'm not sure how true that currently holds though.

No! My lovlies!  AMD, you disappoint me!  I leave you for two years and you take a downturn!

That's ok though. As long as AMD is still cheaper I'll keep riding that horse.  Oh god, please tell me they're still cheaper.  Shocked

They cost about the same .
For the same money Intel propose (similar in performance ) processor .
The question here is the overclocking capability and heat . Here Intel processor are leader .

I used to like AMD, it was competing well with intel but now again intel has dominated the market. So, AMD is good but intel is better.
anyway,i still hope AMD will 'rise'.
But at present i will vote for intel.

i choose AMD because it provides us the best possible Processor+mobo combination @ VFM prices,
Which Intel fails to do so.
Even in the days of C2D's AMD is having their own set of buyers only because of this simple reason.
& i just hope AMD will take the numero uno position yet again .

Best processor and mobo HuhHuh Huh Huh .
Intel chipset are far better than AMD . Now with the new memory controller and hyper transport system bus AMD mobo look about right .
But AMD now Just like intel Propose a good combinations of motherboards+ processor , while intel still leader in the performance .

I chose a AMD CPU quite a while back when it was doing well against Intel. The main reason was that I was on a tight budget and AMD suited my needs. If I had to buy a PC today I would definitely choose Intel over AMD. AMD has lost a lot of ground to Intel in the past couple of years or so.

AMD is far from being the fast processor . Core 2 architecture is a lot faster than AMD A64.  Currently AMD is trying to drop the price of its processor in order to complete with Intel CPU .

I too agree that AMD is far better than Intel. All you need to think is that AMD has better bus speed. So if bus speed is more rate of data transfer is more. And speed is defined as rate of data transfer. So, till intel does not increase bus speed they cannot beat AMD.

Currently Intel processor are faster . AMD processor use better technologies As hypertransport system bus  and memory controller , But clock for core (core 2) intel architecture eat AMD processor
