Recently , the representatives of noncommercial organization OLPC designated new trends in the development of student notebook XO : they turn to the use of operating system Windows XP. This will increase the prime cost of considered notebook by several dollars - Windows XP will also require increase in the capacity of disk space.
Yesterday OLPC representatives described about future plans . Thus, up to 2010 this organization is assembled to release the student notebook XO-2, which will be two times less than the present, and also more economical. For example, instead of 4 W new model will consume only 1 W.
However, the most interesting aspect in XO-2 concept is the extensive sensor screen, which covers the entire internal notebook surface . It is economical, and ensures an adequate image brightness in the straight solar rays.
XO-2 Cost must be packed within the limits of $75. Up to 2010 OLPC will present the intermediate version XO-1.5, which will possess the higher integration degree and lower cost, but it will preserve the design of XO first generation.
