Passage to 450 mm silicic plates will require imposing investments. The first 450 mm plates models will appear in 2012.
AMD Company already declared, that it is not assembled to hurry with the passage on 450 mm plate. The first AMD Vice President (Doug grose), expressed a supplemental reason in favor of this point of view. According to his evaluations, increase in the semiconductor industry by 20-25% caused only 4% increase in the diameter of silicic plates. Remaining increase occurs due to the decrease of core sizes , decrease in the defects level , improvement in quality control. However, expenditures for passage to the larger plates are very large.
According to AMD evaluations , the favorable moment for this passage will be formed not earlier than 2016, or even later. The diameter of plates is necessary to increase every ten year.
