i also suggest to go for a processor with great overclocking potential.and in my opinion intel core 2 duo is the best.Never think about AMD processors.

Just go for a core 2 duo with blind eyes. The core 2 duo processors are currently the kings of the hill. And they overclock like crazy.

I think that a p3 system for backup is a power and effort waste
u can use a simple DVD burner with a dual layer x double faces Disk =17GB and that's it
