- Intel Core i7 with TLB errors - The real 55 nm GT200 - AMD phenom X3 8450e - Asus updated the Eee PC Box -

As we already reported , the loss in stability of the four core processors phenom X4 was under specific conditions due to the TLB error  , this forced AMD to detain the announcement of related opteron processors . In order to solve this error , AMD proposed to turning off a certain part of processor through the motherboard bios , which resulted in performance loss . Finally, this TLB error was fixed in B3 stepping ( now used in all 65 NM phenom processors ) .

According to Intel document the appropriate error is also present in core i7 processors . Intel representatives reported the following:

In other words, if Intel processors contained some critical errors, connected with TLB buffer , then they are corrected with core 2 Duo. The same appeared in  core i7 processors and were corrected after micro-code update . Any processors stepping contains some errors, this is unavoidable. Producer simply gets rid from those errors with micro-code update and with the release of new stepping.

As explains associate , under the marking G200-103-A2 actuality we have the good old 65 NM chip with 216 stream processors, which is used for the production of contemporary video card GeForce GTX 260. Its predecessor had only 192 active stream processors, and it bore the marking G200-100-A2.

The produced on 55 nm technology GT200 chip  relates to the B2 revision , and it is separated by the marking G200-103- B2:

According to associate , the production of such chips was fixed in the middle of August. However, on sale the GeForce GTX 260 on base of 55 NM chip will appear in January 2009.

It was considered that they will appear on sale already during December. The number of stream processors will be equal to 216 pieces, the GeForce GTX 260 frequencies will not change, but here alternative video card design can appear. Associate expects that during January , Nvidia will release also the 55 NM version GeForce GTX 280, and even the two-chip version GeForce GTX 260.

At the end August, some associate promised the announcement of three core processors phenom X3 8x50e, which possess the TDP level not more than 65 W. However, until now, there is only one four core model satisfied by  TDP value not more than 65 W a.

This week appeared the processor phenom X3 8450e (2.1 GHz) :  TDP level does not exceed 65 W.

The phenom X3 8450 processor operates at 2.1 GHz frequency, it has 3 X 512 KB cache in the second level and 2 Mb cache in the third level. The TDP is reduced from 95 to 65 W.

The processor marking is HD8450ODJ3BGH : B3 stepping . Concrete copy is released at the end of October (43 week).

The related processor with TDP level not more than 95 W has the marking HD8450WCJ3BGH. In Japan this processor is proposed for approximately $106, which corresponds to the official wholesale price of previous processor versions with TDP level not more than 95 W.

The Nettop Box's Eee PC from ASUS production appeared on the market several months ago. In this case the sale volume was lower than Asus exception. In order to correct this issue, Asus decided to change the device configuration and to simultaneously reduce its price.

In the new version eee Box , the atom processor will be replaced by the processor celeron 220, and the HDD volume is increased from 80 to 120 GB. The price of updated Eee Box's will be $240.

According to the producer estimation , to the end of year , ASUS will dispatch from 100 to 200 thousand nettops. The deliveries volume  must exceed millions of units in next year.
