About the Intel intentions to postpone the announcement of processors LGA 2066 from August to the end of June, we already reported . Previously, information appeared that motherboards based on the Intel X299 chipset could also shelter the 12-core Skylake-X model, which should counterbalance the 16-core AMD Ryzen processor, which is preparing for the announcement in the third quarter.
So, judging by the latest intelligence reports, Intel really plans to introduce the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors, as well as the Intel X299 chipset at the end of June, and even allow partners to talk about these products on the Computex 2017, which will be held earlier. However, the Skylake-X model with 12 cores will appear only in August of this year.
Intel will not be limited to this August premiere . According to Taiwanese colleagues, for this month, the debut of 14-nm processors Coffee Lake-K, which were supposed to be released only early next year, was postponed. However, in August the company will receive a set of Intel Z370 chipset only a few models of Core i7 / i5 / i3 "eighth generation", equipped with a free multiplier. The full range of Coffee Lake processors will debut only towards the end of the current year or early next year. Then the chipsets of Intel H370, B360 and H310 will be presented.
According to Taiwanese sources, these changes in Intel's plans are provoked by increased competition from AMD, which recently released Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5. Processors Intel as a result did not become cheaper, but the emergence of products of new generations can accelerate.
Incidentally, the processor giant has allocated $ 100 million for the purchase of five EUV-scanners manufactured by ASML, which will allow Intel to master the release of processors using the so-called ultra-hard ultraviolet lithography.
