One of xtremeSystems participants published the photographs of Radeon HD 5870 X2.   Looking at the photographs, it is possible to note several interesting details. First, this is the additional power cable : one is octal and one six-pin, which limits the maximum energy consumption level to 300 W (75 W + 150 W + 75 W). Probably, besides a reduction in the frequencies, AMD selected chips with the minimum energy consumption, in order to reach the indicated TDP. The second interesting detail : graphic processors are located relatively closely to each other, which indirectly indicates the absence of switchboard chip between them. Previously, AMD declared that future two-chip solutions can work without switchboard. It seems that Hemlock is the first of them. The official cost of this card was not declared, but in one European Internet- store this video card is already accessible for order at the price of 677 Euros.  Possible to assume that recommended cost at the announcement moment will be from $499 to $599. Related Products : | ||
