Back in June, NVIDIA demonstrated a prototype of the DGX-1 system with eight Tesla V100 computation accelerators with the Volta architecture. Judging by the early photographs, they were equipped with aluminum radiators, or copper coolers had a nickel coating. The other day NVIDIA announced the delivery of one of the first DGX-1 systems based on Volta accelerators to the American medical center CCDS, which is developing algorithms for accelerated analysis of the results of radiological diagnostics.
Roughly speaking, CCDS specialists developed the technology of "computer decoding" of X-ray images and their subsequent analysis.
The version of the DGX-1 based on eight Tesla V100 accelerators is equipped with two 20-core Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors from the Broadwell-EP generation, and each of the Volta generation accelerators carries 16 GB of HBM2 memory on board. The amount of RAM type DDR4-2133 reaches 512 GB. The disk system is represented by a RAID 0 array of four solid-state drives with a capacity of 1.92 TB. The cost of the system reaches $ 149,000.
The use of copper radiators on the Tesla V100 accelerators is cast into the eye. They are large enough, but this is also explained by the layout of the cooling system: blowing their fans are located at the wall of the shell, at some distance. Related Products :
