Widely proclaimed and multifaceted chipset AMD 690G (RS690) had to appear now in the official surveys, and motherboard on its basis had to be released for the market during January. Meanwhile a pair of days ago information about the transfer of chipset anoncement on February was published by our associate. We did not give it great significance; however, yesterday we confirmed this information. The delay in the anoncement is caused by problems with the licensing of support HDCP and HDMI, which is proclaimed by some modifications of chipset AMD RS690. Both functions require the payment of yearly license payments and deductions from each sold product with the support of the corresponding standard. It is similar, that the delay is caused, on the larger part by problems with the licensing of support HDCP by chipset RS690, although not all is smooth with the license for use HDMI. Let us note that the graphical solutions ATI do not have similar problems, and support HDCP is already realized on many video cards. Strictly speaking, such formalities will be solved rapidly, and chipset RS690 will be released for the market. More ,that some producers of motherboard are ready present products on the base of chipsets series already during January, they simply decided to refuse the support of HDCP and HDMI in the announced motherboard. | ||
