Yesterday our Australian associates published brief review about the motherboard on the base of chipset Intel p35. We can not make any direct conclusion from the result published since the motherboard used was from early models. Since the release of chipsets series bearlake and the price stimulation of demand for processors core 2 Duo with 1333 MHz system bus are two inevitable phenomena, many users are already interested in the periods of accessibility and in prices of the corresponding motherboards.
We already reported that the prices of motherboards based on chipset series bearlake, will not strongly differ from the cost of the existing motherboards on the base of chipset Intel p965 . Many Associates also confirmed the succession of prices between Intel p965 and Intel p35. They also reported that chipset Intel p35 will replace the Intel p965, and for this replacement there are the completely real stimuli : the chipset Intel p35 will be released on thinner 65 nm technical process, it cannot be excluded that it will be cheaper in the production than Intel p965. However, the motherboard producers are inclined to the opinion that the chipsets Intel p965 and Intel p35 will some time coexist on the market.
But if we speak about the periods of the beginning for deliveries to the chipset Intel p35 and motherboards on its base, then associates call the end of May or the beginning of June. These are the completely predictable periods.
The Ability of chipset Intel p35 to support memory of type DDR- 3 will be used by motherboard producers but differently: some will first propose only motherboard with DDR-2 support , and only later will be released products with DDR- 3 support , others will arrange the release of motherboard with the simultaneous support of DDR-2 and DDR- 3.
Approximately during August or September as a change to Intel i975X will come the chipset Intel x38, which will propose the support of two graphic card according to : PCI express x16 + PCI express x16. The interface PCI express x16 will be modernized to version 2.0. It is assumed that chipset Intel x38 will support only memory of type DDR- 3 . The first time this will negatively affect the total cost of system. Possibly, the memory controller of chipset intel x38 will be optimized for the work with DDR- 3.
