British holding company ARM introduced the graphics processor for mobile devices called Mali-T658. This chip is ten times more productive compared to the solution of present generation, Mali-400, and not inferior to its power processor Cell, which is based on a game console Sony PlayStation 3.
Mali-T658 processor is designed to Superfon and will allow you to run on a compact device-intensive applications with sophisticated graphics. In particular, the chip is compatible with hardware and software interfaces as Microsoft DirectX 11 and DirectCompute, Khronos OpenGL ES and OpenCL, as well as Renderscript and OpenVG. Graphics accelerator can have up to 8 cores.
The first devices, including smart phones, tablets, televisions and entertainment systems that will receive Mali-T568, will appear only after two years :
Last year, was presented the GPU Mali-T604, which will be used only in electronics from 2012. This chip is the first ARM decision , using a unified shader architecture, each T604 core (which can be up to 4) is a combination of the two arithmetic pipelines and one texture unit, but their capabilities are still unknown. ARM promises that the performance of T604 in its highest possible option would be to achieve 68 gigaflops. Related Products :
