Analytical agency IHS iSuppli announced the results of the third quarter 2011 for the market of microprocessors used in personal computers and servers.
Thus, in the third quarter, Intel continued to increase its presence in the market of processors for PCs and servers in terms of money. The company's share for the quarter increased from 82.52% to 83.69%. Over the years it has grown from 80.93% to 83.69%. In contrast, AMD is losing ground as a quarterly (10.53% -> 10.22%) and in annual terms (11.45% -> 10.22%).
Intel's position show a declining interest in netbooks, if last year was sold 32 million devices, then this year the figure fell to 21.4 million netbooks. Intel has lost 32% of revenue derived from sales of Atom processors and chipsets for them, if we compare the third quarter with the same period last year. It is expected that sales of netbooks by 2015 will fall to 13.4 million pieces per year.
Compensate for the drop in sales of netbooks helped steady demand for notebook computers from corporate customers, as well as the rapid increase in the cost of server equipment used in cloud solutions. If in 2010 the capacity of the market measured $ 23 billion, by 2015 it could reach $ 110 billion
According to IHS iSuppli forecasts, drives scarcity will drop the sales of finished computers from the expected 88 million units to 84.2 million units. Related Products :
