According to the words of AMD technologist it is possible to understand that fusion processor will not cost more than standard today collection ( processor and integrated chipset ). The price positioning Of fusion was determined by the word mainstream - at least, in desktop segment.
Today appeared new information, which relate to fusion processors . Let us recall that fusion processors propagation will start in 2009 ( in the mobile segment )- at this moment they will be released on 45 nm technical process. Some time later fusion architecture will become ordinary for desktop and mobile processors AMD, it can appear even in server segment. According to AMD representatives estimations , fusion architecture will become standard for processors approximately through two or three generations.  The area of dual core version fusion with integrated graphic core will be equal to 180 sq. mm, approximately 100 sq. mm will be reserved to the graphic part, and two processor core will engage the remained 80 sq. mm. this processor will be released on 45 nm technology. The competing processor intel under code name sandy bridge will have the comparable core area , but it will be released on 32 nm technology.  Let us note that 180 sq. mm - this is the crystal area average , which from the prime cost side does not allow to place this processor in budget sector . It is possible to assume that the cost of desktop processors fusion will lie near $200. Talking about compatibility with the existing motherboards , for fusion processors will be required new infrastructure. In this plan , AMD desire to begin the expansion Of fusion from mobile segment - mobile platforms are less sensitive to reverse compatibility , since all components are usually updated together .
