At the Supercomputing 2012 conference, IBM introduced another model of cognitive computer, called Compass . The model was launched as the second in the world in performance supercomputer Blue Gene / Q Sequoia, located at Lawrence in the U.S.. Compass consists of 2,084 billion neurosynaptic core containing 530 billion neurons and 100 trillion synapses, divided into 77 groups, according to the sections of the brain. To date, this system is the most advanced electronic technology .
Note that IBM scientists have not tried to make a model of biologically realistic. Compass processes taking place in the memory, computation and communication are not quite as in the brain: the scientists had to make compromises for the sake of performance and power.
