JEDEC today finally published the final DDR- 3 specifications .
Among update in DDR- 3 memory , the developers note the lowered to 1.5 v supply voltage and extended range of operating temperatures. As reported OCZ technology company, that the reduction in the operating voltage cannot compensate the increase in energy consumption of DDR- 3 modules due to the higher clock frequencies. Accordingly, this memory type will heat a lot, and here the improved thermal stability will be optimized. In Computex 2007 some producer demonstrated memory modules , capable to work in regime DDR 3-2000 with intensive cooling.
JEDEC also noted the specifications of DDR- 3 memory module with different type : registered, not buffered, SO-DIMM and other. The Standard operating modes will be from DDR 3-800 to DDR 3-1600, and the volume from 512 MB to 8Gb.
In the beginning of October JEDEC plans to make a conference, where memory producers will exchange information about DDR- 3. DDR- 3 Specifications are accessible for download from JEDEC site after registration.
