Yesterday Seagate has made an interesting acquisition. Seagate has reached an agreement to acquire full ownership of all shares of Xyratex.
Name of Xyratex not often pops up in the news. Basically it is known for its products in the form of data storage systems. As a developer and supplier of storage Xyratex company, for example, in 2010, was among the organizers of the consortium ASTC (Advanced Storage Technology Consortium), which is part of an organization like IDEMA was intended to engage in the development of magnetic recording (coordination and development strategy). The company became part of Xyratex Union Cloud Builder Alliance, created by Seagate as a club to promote the cloud based products and technology company. From what is not in sight - Xyratex company produces equipment for testing the magnetic plates. Three years ago, 75% of all produced in the world 3,5-plates are factory testing equipment Xyratex.
In its press release, Seagate is focusing on two components of Xyratex activity. It counts as income from sales of equipment for testing of magnetic disks, and the growth of the recording density of the process is becoming more complex as well as corny longer time (time - it's money, yeah). The company also sees the acquisition Xyratex opportunity to expand its activities by developments in the form of serious storage, including - for the critical tasks (for SuperServers).
