PCLab published a short note informing about the release of a new series of drives GoodRAM C40, which was presented by Wilk Elektronik SA, which owns the trademark GoodRAM.
The products is quite difficult to acquire in the Russian retail: it focuses mainly on the Eastern European market, and is also found in stores in Ukraine and the Kaliningrad region.
Wilk Elektronik SA, although it has the necessary production capacity, independently produces a model based on SandForce controllers. Similarly, C50 and C100, C40 model series product are fully developed by Phison. If earlier Phison provides its customers with ready drives 19-nm memory Toshiba (Toggle Mode 2.0), then the C40 uses cheaper synchronous 20nm memory Micron. Another interesting point is the use of different controllers: in versions of 60 GB and 120 involved Phison PS3109-S9, and for volumes of 240 and 480 GB used Phison PS3108-S8.
Differences between these controllers that Phison PS3109-S9 is a simplified version with fewer channels and do not need to install the chip buffer memory. All this allows a few to save on the cost of the finished product.
According to Wilk Elektronik SA representative, the new C40 drives provide a series of reads up to 550 MB / s and up to 530 MB / s when writing blocks consisting of zeros (feature controllers Phison), and 528/493 MB / s incompressible data . Related Products :
