This week, Apple has several new patents. Patented technologies may find application in future company products.
According to AppleInsider, last Thursday, U.S. Bureau of patents and trademarks registration approved patent application on the Apple technology that allows mobile devices to change the settings depending on the user's location. In particular, Apple suggests using different authentication methods . For example, in the house to unlock the device is possible by a simple four-digit password, while in public places such as shopping centers, entertainment options, need to unlock using scan fingerprint fingerprint sensor using Touch ID. This technology will enhance the security of the user data and protect device from access by third parties.
To determine the user's location and automatic mode switching is proposed to use a set of hardware and software. For precise positioning requires at least two sources reliably identified signal. For example, the system will take into account the first signal of a permanent Wi-Fi network at home or at work, rather than the signal from the onboard computer oncoming car or nearby mobile devices.
Timeline for implementation of a new patent is not specified. Patent documentation only stated that it was filed back in 2012.
The second patent was obtained by the technology of producing the material, called Liquidmetal, and is the complement of the earlier patent under the number 8701742. new development is a manufacturing method of the above alloy parts in molds under vacuum. This technology has several advantages over traditional Production method allows precise control of material temperature, viscosity, and other parameters.
It should be noted that the Liquidmetal is the commercial name of amorphous metal alloys developed by a group of scientists from Caltech, who later formed the company Liquidmetal Technologies. At room temperature, these alloys, despite the name, are solid materials and has an excellent resistance to wear, damage and heat.
