EVGA company was among NVIDIA partners , witch officially recognized the existence of updated version GeForce 8800 GTS with increased to 112 units stream processors.
Associate compared the GeForce 8800 GT version and GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB ( 112 stream processor ) in Crysis demo . EVGA graphics card e-GeForce 8800 GTS SSC 640 MB operates at frequencies 576/1800 MHz.

The test platform consisted of motherboard Asus Extreme Blitz, Xeon processor Core 2 Quad Q6600 (overclocked to 3.5 GHz) and 4 gigabytes memory DDR3-1556. The operating system used is Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and drivers ForceWare 169.04 Beta. In Crysis demo with 1600 x 1200, High Detail, 0xAA they got the following:
- GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB (112 SP) -> 26.1 frames per second;
- GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB (650/1625/1900 MHz) -> 25.4 frames per second.
The difference in performance is not so great to talk about boost . Furthermore, this graphics card will costs $ 399 and GeForce 8800 GT is even cheaper than $ 300.
