Consortium Advanced Storage Technology Consortium (ASTC), incorporates a variety of designers and manufacturers of storage devices such as LSI, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST), Marvell, Seagate Technology, Texas Instruments, Western Digital and many others, predicts the beginning of mass use technology thermomagnetic recording (HAMR, Hear-Assisted Magnetic Recording) in 2017.
And next year we will be the serial retail volume 10 TB HDD, made possible through the use of technology developed by Seagate tiled entry (Shingled Magnetic Recording; SMR) and filling the internal volume of devices on the magnetic platters helium gas (Hitachi).
And these predictions are beginning to be confirmed by real actions of producers: HGST and Seagate have already begun to supply the market with hard drives volume of 8 TB , and over the coming months Hitachi will start to produce and modify the volume of 10 terabytes .
