This week, it became clear that in November AMD will announce just two Phenom models quad processor operating at frequencies of 2.2 and 2.3 GHz. Processor Phenom 9700 with 2.4 GHz frequency will appear only in mid-December, with TDP level 125 W.
Referring to Taiwanese motherboard manufacturers , AMD will be able to produce a Phenom model with 2.6 GHz frequency only in next year. The main reason for modest frequency capacity is the migration from 90 nm to 65 nm .
We repeatedly seen four core processors Phenom operating at 3.0 GHz frequency with air cooling. The problem, obviously, is that AMD could not provide the mass production of processors Phenom with relatively high default frequencies, and now they decided to reduce the frequency for the mass availability of such processors.
Regarding the price of Phenom processors , the Phenom 9500 model (2.2 GHz) in retail may cost around $ 280, processor Phenom 9600 (2.3 GHz) will be slightly more expensive-$ 320. According to Taiwanese sources, the wholesale price can be equal to $ 250 and $ 270 respectively. The most interesting that the processor Phenom 9700 (2.4 GHz) will cost slightly more than $ 300.
Some analysts believe that such attractive price could provoke a new round of price wars between AMD and Intel. Related Products :
